In December 2015 at the age of 33 George was diagnosed with advanced Bowel cancer. After intensive treatment and in typical George style he used his disease as a means to challenge his friends to get back on their bikes - these remarkable events were the beginning of our fundraising campaign.
After a heroic and inspirational journey George peacefully died on November 18th 2016.
Whilst on his bike, his mantra was;
"Don't stop spinning"
More than anything George longed for the fact that his death would not be in vain. In one of his parting conversations he said, "get me a million, get me one million pounds for Bowel Cancer."
So this is why we're here! It's relatively uncommon for someone at the age of 34 to be impacted by bowel cancer but tragically each year, more and more young people are being diagnosed. The stand out symptoms of tiredness and weight loss can so easily be attributed to having a young family and busy lifestyle.
More awareness, better treatment options and more research is needed for bowel cancer in younger people.
Don't let George's death be a memory of fear.
Use it to be aware and help us raise £1 million to fund research and treatment options in his memory.
Georgie we will never stop saying your name and spinning forwards into the astounding legacy you leave.
With love,
Louise, Charlie, Jamie & their extended families.
